However, two vibrant cities – Portimão and Lagos – and beautiful beaches are just a short 20-25 minute drive away. The complex also comprises a neighbouring five-star hotel.
The resort itself offers a pool, gym, spa and restaurant. There’s also a seasonal mini-market and pool bar. The surrounding area has limited amenities, but the neighbouring towns and cities like Alvor and Portimão offer a wide variety of options.
As it is surrounded by countryside the Algarve Racetrack Apartments offer a range of nature-based activities, like hiking and cycling, right on the doorstep. Nearby Portimão and Alvor run boat trips and water-based activities. There are two golf courses (Penina and Nau Morgado Alamos) within 10kms of the apartments. The Alcalar Megalithic monuments are approximately 6kms away.
While a car is recommended for exploring the Algarve and reaching neighbouring towns, taxis, ride calling platforms and car rentals are options. An Uber to Portimão city or Alvor village should cost in the region of €16-€20. Portimão council operates a mini shuttle bus (Vai e Vem) network that runs around the city and serves the Autódromo (Racetrack)/Mexilhoeira Grande area, and the nearby parishes of Pereira and Montes de Cima (Routes 21N and 21P). It’s approximately a 2.5-3km walk from the apartments to the nearest Vai e Vem stop.

The apartments are monetised via a Rental Pool system, which shares out profit according to the size of each apartment and the amount of nights each property is available for usage in the rental pool, regardless of how many nights they were occupied.
While the apartment can be removed from the rental pool, the apartments operate under a touristic licence and there are no provisions in Portuguese law that allow habitation in touristic-licensed facilities. These are not residential units. However, as long as the proper notice is given, as per the contract, for their apartments to be removed from the rental pool, they will not be available for use as a rental property. Essentially, an owner can elect to not participate in the rental pool and can be a 'tourist' in their own property and use the property as much as they desire, for their own purposes.
Owners are guaranteed 21 days of usage per year, subject to availability. They are NOT limited to 21 days of usage per year and as long as there is availability in the booking calendar, they will be able to use their apartments as much as they wish. Owners can book time in their apartments throughout the remainder of the year, but blocking cannot be granted for certain dates.
